The war between Israel and Hamas is a catastrophe because the outbreaks
of non-discriminatory military actions have led to genocide in Gaza. It is
important that we take a stand against the injustice, and the inhumane violence
that arises from such conflicts. The embedded logic of Pax Americana and settler
colonialism is disturbing, while thousands of lives are extinguished, buildings are
burned to the ground and basic services such as water and electricity are cut off.
The war has to be ceased; humanity can, therefore, be saved. We, at
Curatography, cannot stand by silently, because art and culture are not separate
from society and politics. We call on artists, writers, students, cultural workers,
cultural organizations, policy makers and especially the public to stand in
solidarity with Palestine, while acknowledging the brutality of anti-Semitism.
Only through open dialogue can we hope to challenge and dismantle the harmful
narratives of colonialism and work towards a more just, equal and peaceful
world.
