In both Greek and Latin, “to act” means “to begin” and “to initiate.” Especially in Latin, “to be free” and “”to begin,” or even “to be human,” are one and the same. t goes without saying that curation has always been related to ethics to a certain extent, the relationship between them, however, has just received attention in recent years especially after the publication of Maura Reilly’s Curatorial Activism, Towards an Ethics of Curating in 2018 and Jean-Paul Martinon’s Curating as Ethics in 2020. Whereas the former is, strictly speaking, dealing with politics rather than ethics, the later directly declares that curation itself is ethics, making the topic of curatorial ethics more remarkable.

Different individuals present different positions in the world and distinct relative relationships with others in the intersection and action axes of power, norms, culture and history.
